Sofia Station Area is a masterplan for the development of the area that lies directly behind Sofia's central railway station. The arrival of a high-speed train service from Vienna to Istanbul as well as the economic and demographic growth have led to ambitious plans for this area. By reconnecting the station area to Sofia's city centre an international business location can be developed, with offices, housing and urban facilities. Various development scenarios are being studied to define the preferred directions of the final masterplan.
