Dordrechts Museum, Dordrecht (NL)
Dirk Jan Postel
The Dordrechts Museum houses one of the most important collections of Dutch Masters in The Netherlands. The existing building was too small to show the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions simultaneously. A good museum offers its visitors a continuous walking route. The historic building was ideally suited for a chronological display of the permanent collection. The new extension will accomodate temporary exhibitions. This new stealth-like volume seems to be floating and is wrapped in a metal skin. Visitors enter the museum through the splendid museum garden.
